TD5 engine missing and no power

So it starts fine but soon as you take off it starts to miss and the whole car starts to shake and struggles to get to 60km even worse trying to go up hill, I did take it to Discovery Automotive and they say they need to replace the engine and injected harness, I have the injected harness replaced about two years ago anyone had this problem before?

It's common enough for many to have had oil in the loom issues. It's usually just the injector loom which is about $200-250 to have replaced.

    Agree.
If you replace the injector harness, and take out the gasket from the ECU plug after cleaning out the plug to let it drain , it will eventually dry out after a few months. Get the workshop to show you how to remove the ECU, behind the battery and unplug the red plug and clean with electronic contact cleaner. Do this every few weeks after you replace the injector harness and the problem should not recur.

    Hi Heath,

Most of the posts are not including the costs of replacing the Engine Harness as quoted by Discovery Automotive. If it does need to be replaced you can see the cost of one from the UK (Famous Four) on this link Famous Four - New Parts for Discovery Series II 1999-2004 Models - Electrical If it is a Series 2a you can see it is even more. I ended up replacing my Engine Harness as well as Injector Harness after having too many niggly problems and it made quite a long lasting improvement. Both harnesses are not too hard to do yourself but the Engine Harness is much more labour intensive hence a probable large labour cost.

You shouldn't need to replace the main harness if you clean it up properly.
