sorry for my english.
What model do you have? Engine? Auto/manual? Year?
sorry forgot
Guessing td5
Boost modulator?, run a bypass hose to test
Have you checked for codes?
Many have the bypass permanently, as per defender
It's easy enough to change
Why it's in the car? What it's perpes?
Sorry for my English
it's a whole theory about this but in a nutshell: due to that modulator you can get 230KPa manifold pressure instead of 210 like the Defender has, which means around 1.3 bar boost instead of 1.1 as the Defender so more power... the modulator managed by the ECM keeps the wastegate under controll with vacumatic command and the boost can rise more in the inlet manifold ... that's the gist of it... you better fit a new one as it's not that expensive and not very hard to replace cos to work perfect without it you'll need different fuel map(for defender) loaded in the ECM , also by being bypassed/faulty/unplugged the modulator throws a fault code in the \ECM and the management/addaptive strategy will be disturbed...it works this way too but not at full(100%) capacity
