    transmission rebuild

hi im after input about auto gearbox rebuilds, my fathers has just been done but has now been back twice due to cotton threads in valves, we are willing to ship interstate or buy core in state and get rebuilt. also are there any mods suggested for better operating of box off road/on road???

i can't imagine how much would cost the shipping untill you but if you have a remap this one Ashcroft Transmissions would be a good(but expensive) investment

Check out ZF themselves. They did a changeover box for the D2 when they were newish but that's probably not the case now. However, they can rebuild yours, usually for a fixed price.

Their workshop is in Arndell Park (Western Sydney).

Had been looking around as the auto in my D2 is very close to the end of its useful life.

A&B also seem to be a lot cheaper than numbers I have heard other people talk about for an auto rebuild.

my fathers was around 4k and has now been back 4 times in a month. the builder has been great to deal with and is pulling his hair out over the problems which are cotton threads blocking the valve filters. they yesterday started to remove the box to strip and reassemble. car was taken to a land rover specialist on a truck when the oil pump came loose and traveled forward and punched out the seal. new cooler lines were fitted as part of the process. my thoughts are that some one blocked or covered a disconnected line with the rag and some frayed ends have ended up in the system. just shows some luck. a specialist repairer and recommended transmission builder sometimes also have bad days.

A&B were the guys that rebuilt my mums trany in her Citroen C4 and were great to deal with.

Ashcroft is about £1500 plus freight for outright purchase for a stock tranny with about a week to get here. That is cheaper then the $4500 I have been told ZF charge. And extra £250 upgrades to the medium TC and that lowers your stall and reduces heat. Good deal I recon.
