So say it like it is, and tell us what you really think.
Glad I am no where near the Muppet
I had them replaced when I bought the car at Graeme Coopers, at 218k kms.
Now at 255, the ****ing pieces of **** have decided to burst at 12:30 on the side of the highway after dropping SWMBO home.
Really ****ing angry right now.
So say it like it is, and tell us what you really think.
Glad I am no where near the Muppet
That's ****ty luck there Muppet.
On the positive side, at least it went after dropping SWMBO off, saving you from copious amounts of earache.![]()
Hope you got home pretty quickly, and weren't attacked by the Orange wildlings.
Count yourself lucky Muppet.
Mine blew off with my other half IN the car and 8 Months pregnant.
And as we were sitting by the road waiting for a tow, another flat bed went past the other way...... with a Defender on the back.
Think she has a positive view of LR reliability ??

You need 2 steel weld on JIC fittings for the lines from the auto, 2 of the same in alloy for the cooler. Don't cut the ends of wither but you'll need to bore out the fitting a little by memory. For the hoses get some push lock fittings to fit the weld ons and hose to suit. Make it all your self for under $150- (plus welding).
Go and see Ian at Pirtek Orange. Tell him Justin from Stauff said to help you or I'll come back to haunt him.
If you need part no's let me know.
Thanks for that Justin.
Next question.
I lost lockup in 3rd heading along swmbo's driveway. Call it 500m in, driveway is 1k.
Stopped at the end coming back to check. See fluid.
Try to limp it home, make it another 500m before no drive.
Once I had no drive it was shut-down immediately.
Likely damage?
Was slightly relieved to see the oil was still red (minus the dirt from the underside) and had a nice greasy non burnt smell...
Doubtful damage but don't start until it can hold fluid ot you have the ends in a bucket recirculating the oil.
Lockup occurs with road speed and it's somewhere around 84k's it kicks in, but will hold below this, down to around 72. After replacing the auto (Ashcroft St 2 modded and large TC (sm & med TC only available in TD5)) and my lock up points are slightly different.
Muppet when you say the line burst what exactly happened? Did the rubber hose come off the metal pipe or did it split?
I am trying to decide if I will modify my current lines to take a temp probe or purchase new ones and modify them. I was leaning towards new ones but now I am not so certain. . .
