    Handbrake dial missing

I've followed rave to adjust the drum as my handbrake wasn't working at all. It now engages but the handbrake goes ask the way to the top and doesn't fully engage.

Now when I take out the centre switches there is a black rubber grommet I can't pull off or rotate where the cable disappears under the car. Am I looking in the wrong place due the rotating thing?

    Underneath

    Jake,

the cable adjuster is underneath the floor. Just follow the cable up from the drum and you should see the lock nut and adjusting nut. Its a bit of a pain to get at but can be done.

I found this in the good oil

Thanks Roger, so you access it from under the car? Rave is confusing then as it tells you to remove the centre switches?!

    My cable is stretched also.
You need good mobility to do it.
There is a large nut 22MM? that has to be turned clockwise while holding a smaller nut which is on the cable just below. This is at the top of the transmission tunnel under the car.
After several tries and tool combinations I found a pair of multigrips holding the smaller nut, and a crows foot 22MM spaneer with a long extension to be best.
I have new shoes so I am pretty sure my cable has stretched, but you maybe should check your brake shoes are OK before trying to adjust the cable. My cable is at max adjustment , and this is about 25-30MM of thread showing.

Thanks, Yes the shoes still work as I can adjust with the bolt and locks. I'll have a look for the nut then at the handle end.
