The car will add all the occurrences up to 250??(someone?) then its a constant light.
You need to connect a nanocom or similar to see what exactly is wrong.
Hi there disco fans. I know this has been covered before but I just wanted to clarify how to diagnose/fix this problem. My 2001 TD5 has had this fault for years. Firstly, the three lights would only come on after hard braking or a long stop, and then not all the time. Then this started happening a bit more often, after normal braking. A few months ago the three amigos started appearing randomly, whilst just driving along. Turn off the engine and start it again and all is gone, until some other random moment when they would just appear again. Now they come on virtually every time I drive somewhere. Is this how this fault normally develops? Is the shutter valve in the abs modulator the usual suspect, or could it be down at a wheel sensor? I don't really want to bypass the problem, preferring to actually fix it. Any help/ suggestions welcome.

Hi, the most common intermittent faults are sensor/hub related and SVS(shuttle valve switch) related, the difference between them is that when it's from SVSs the amigos go off ALL after an ignition cycle and if it's from sensor/hub the TC and HDC will be off but the ABS will stay on untill the car exceeds 10km/h then go off
about the SVS, be aware that the cheaper so named "SVS switch repair kit, this ABS Modulator Shuttle Valve Repair Kit (Wabco) SWO500030 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order. is just a placebo and it will not last cos the culprit is within the big SVS module... the problem in 99% of cases is not with the switches cos they work normally but the signal is lost within the SVS assy's internal circuitry untill the plug that's why people are making that bypass and connect the SVSs resistance output directly to the wire which goes to SLABS ECU...if you want the real fix which will last again around 10 to 15 years then get back to where you are now is this one: ABS Modulator Control Valve Kit (Wabco) SWO500040 Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order.
your choice just be aware that the bypass mod is completely harmless and works ok, i found a non invasive way to completely bypass the SVSs with a relay and two resistances but it's still in tests so i'll make it public after it's been working for at least 1 month without probs(it's still fresh)
anyway get the fault code read before you do something cos there could be other reasons too for the 3 amigos

To diagnose needs a nanocom or similar test instrument. Intermittent faults make it harder. Can test abs switches by using a multimeter. Can test abs wheel sensors by lifting each wheel individually whilst parked and running engine in drive, etc . My safety filter says no to this approach unless desperate. Push wires back into abs connector firmly, especially the yellow green one as I struck this issue the day I bought mine - everyone said do option b mod. As Pedro said search aulro.
Many thanks to all who replied. Sounds like getting a proper diagnostic is best. Glad to hear the bypass is harmless, I was concerned it might affect the abs or tc operation. Much appreciated.
It's not a bypass, it is a repair of a broken electrical circuit.
I've just had this 3 Amigos issue start about 3 weeks ago with my 2004 D2 TD5 160000kms. Had it serviced 2 weeks ago and my mechanic reported that it had a "Shuttle Valve Switch on the ABS which is faulty". He said that from his experience the ABS Modulator Shuttle Valve Switch (AMSVS) will not fix the problem and that in 95% of cases the ABS Modulator Valve Kit (AMVK) needs replacing. I have been reading up on AULRO all weekend about this, some people say that the modulator (AMVK) shouldn't be replaced as its repairable. I am not that technically minded and am a little confused can it be repaired (my mechanic didn't offer it) or not???? Also I have found them for sale in the UK for Genuine 529.86 to Wabsco 271.28 GBP, I believe they are both made by WABSCO in Germany, would there be any point buying genuine?
here is the fix Disco ABS Fault , tell your mechanic to do that or DIY video too(mute the sound) [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7hZQI1gfAg[/ame]

ThAnks sierraferry,That's the famous "option B" I've been reading about isn't it , some people call it a bypass I think?
From what I've read, and from what you've said yourself above, fixing this is a placebo isn't it???? Didn't you say that it doesn't work long term?
Sorry I am a little confused, not my area....
