I'm currently averaging 13L/100ks over the last 5000k. Mainly city driving with bullbar, roof racks, cupboard system and fridge.

Averaged 12.8L/100km over the first 130,000km Stock D2 Td5 Auto with ARB bar. Has dropped to 11L/100km over the last 30,000km since I changed the tyre size to 265/70 16 and removed the muffler and fixed the cat. Best was 8.3L/100km on a trip to Mildura, worst 16L/100km towing our Jayco expanda through the mountains in summer.

Equipment fitted, tyres fitted and driving style varies hugely.

I average 11 to 11.5 litres per hundred at the moment which I'm pretty happy with really. I life in the hills so use more than those on the flats. I have ACE too and they reckon that stings you an extra litre per hundred kms. I have an ARB bar, rhino bars and an ARB awning, side steps and bf Goodrich all terrains in 245-70. Tyre choice can also impact fuel economy.

My question is though for those that get worse economy, what are the things to check that may reduce fuel usage? MAF or fuel filter for example?

Wellington NSW to Goondiwindi QLD via Boggabri, Barraba, Bingara, Moree .... by the shortest routes ... 685km for 10.47L/100km.
Two people and all camping gear for 2 weeks away.

    27mpg in the old scale.

    I call that very respectable.

I am not set up for economy. As pointed out above by joel0407 what is on the vehicle/in the vehicle and being pulled by the vehicle are directly relevant to fuel economy. Here is my setup:

Okay, but you didn't make that clear.
