sounds like pretty much what I had on my td5 disco worked well for me cheers
Hi everyone about to order this kit, What do you think about this set up, Springs sound about right?
Car TD5 D2 Auto.
Will fit bulbar maybe a winch, but might not happen. No other accessories at this stage.
Used pretty empty most of the time living in the suburbs of adelaide sadly.
Often get away 4x4ing and camping over a few nights when we can. I don't do extreme hardcore stuff, but i do enjoy the more challenging stuff when we go 4x4ing.
This is what I've got a quote for,
Front Bilstein long travel BE5-B994
Bilstein Long travel Rear BE5-B995
Dobson front raised coil C51-043
Dobson Rear Raised coil Progressive C51-027V
Thankyou everyone

Hi mudder110 how did u find the ride when unloaded around town? Also when loaded?
I think I bought the same set up. 12 months after fitting the wife smashed the front bumper in a car park. Well now its time to fit a bull bar, it dropped the front down a bit but not enough to up grade the springs. However now I am look at winches, will definitely need heavier springs for that! I also have a second battery in the engine bay, oh and it is a V8 of course!
Based on your planned usage I would keep the ride height standard and simply fit slightly larger tyres eg 245 75 16.
No need to lift a car that will go almost anywhere as it left from the factory!
Cheers

Why do you want to lift your vehicle?
The biggest problem with a D2 off road is the 29" tyres. They should be 32" just like the Defender.
All the springs available are generic and tailored to be "one size fits all" scenarios.
You need to know what you want to achieve, what weight you will be adding and what you want in terms of ride comfort and articulation.
I have bought off the shelf springs and was never happy with them. So I went custom, decided on the lift I wanted, worked out what weight I was carrying and what comfort level I wanted. I gave the spring make the info and he tailor made the springs.
A bit more work but well worth the effort.
Hi thankyou for the replies. I guess the current suspension is 150km and 13 years old. currently it doesn't really absorb potholes, spoon drain bumps ect very well let alone off road.
I currently have 245/75 tyres only in AT tho, which seem okay. And I've just done the CDL as well which makes it a lot better.
I know its a lot of money for the 5 or 6 trips away each year...
When off road I've really felt like i need a little more hight even when unloaded. Often I've had to nurse the car at .5km over or around things or not made it at all.
I want to add a bulbar and light bar soon. I don't want the arse to sag like it currently does when loaded.
What I'm hoping to achieve is better on road comfort, handling and more control and composure over on road bumps.
Off road i don't want to feel the harshness and body scrapping sounds. A little more articulation wouldn't hurt. I also feel the suspension is the next logical thing to do to improve it. When I've let my tire pressures down the body does sit pretty low to the ground, I also love my disco, and feel the better suspension will also help reduce stress that off roading puts on the car as a whole.
Am i expecting too much from my lift in regards to the on and off road ride hoping to achieve?
Thanks again everyone, keep your opinions coming.
Bigger tyres and progressive springs definitely helped ride comfort when I lifted my RRC.
More tyre noise and less fuel economy though
I went to Les Richmond Auto for my 2 inch lift kit. He asked what I was adding weight wise.
He then said that I needed this, this and that which I purchased and I am very happy with the result
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
