Thread: About to buy this 2inch lift kit, What do u think?

Hi if anyone is interested, I've installed the shocks and springs yesterday.
Heights before rear 480 front 500.
Heights After rear 565 front 550. had about 60kg of gear in the rear when measurements taken.

The ride is amazing now, so much better and more refined. much firmer but it a good way, and very smooth on large bumps ect. Ive only driven around town but have trips planned. even breaking ect seems much more stable, its better is every area, and looks a lot better sitting higher.

Also thought I'd ask what tyre pressures you run in your 245/75 A/T's around Adelaide? I'm figuring you would/should(?) run pretty low pressures in a mostly empty Disco, which should help absorb some of those city spoon drains and speed humps.

What do you consider pretty low? I wouldn't think it would be a great idea to run them at 30 PSI for example. Lots of side wall flex from belled out tires could result in poor handling and warm tires. I know Adelaide is almost 60kmh everywhere so the speed is probably not an issue. But i would have thought progressive rate springs would have been a better solution to spoon drains and speed humps.

Responding to Warrzone's comments about spoon drains, I was just being inquisitive when asking about tyre pressures, not suggesting that a suspension upgrade was not a good idea.


From experience I know I tend to run my tyres pressure a little on the high side. And I also know I need to run pressures a lot less in the Disco than I did in my old Toyota FJ60. It depends on what size and ply rating tyres you run, what weight is your vehicle, amongst other things I guess.


My experience is a drop of a few pounds in air pressure can make a difference on the impact of those speed humps and spoon drains.


Adding to this I run 245/75 A/T's, in my case Terra Trac 10plys. I was surprised when the local tyre guy, who has a wealth of experience fitting tyres for mining and pastoral clients (so I'm not going to suggest he is wrong), considered the Disco not a heavy 4WD and suggested 25 psi for these tyres when I'm running around empty. As I said I run higher pressures at 30-40 psi depending on my load, but notice I tend to wear the centre indicating over inflation, so maybe the tyre guy is right in my case?


Depends where you live in Adelaide. If I was living in one of those 'leafy suburbs' where they have slowed down the local traffic with speed humps (and there are plenty of them) I'd be looking at all options to make my ride a little more comfortable.

hi guys, slow reply. Im not the best forum writer or reviewer going. I never got my new set up to help tackle the metro streets of brighton adelaide, but i am very happy with the way it rides around town, big improvement in comfort and control. I plan on doing more 4x4 trips away which is why i did the lift.

i normally run 34psi, but I've never really tried to play around it the tyre shop said to run 34 so i did.

the old shocks were more then stuffed so needed to be done anyway, 3 of the 4 were leaking. thanks for your help.
