Hi, as long as it's in the "logged" memory it means it was intermittent detected at a previous ignition cycle and it's not there anymore... at that time there was a communication failure on MIL's circuit between the ECM and the instrument pack and the ECM didnt "feel" the MIL circuit's load as it completes an earth path with voltage above 7.7V to extinguish the lamp, this fault code confirms my suspicion of a bad contact between the ECM and MIL which i exposed in your other thread here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/2209638-post5.html
the problem is that it's intermittent and that makes it very hard to trace but for me it means it's somewhere in a plug which might have corrosion on that circuit's pins or it's loosened...there is only one plug between the ECM and the instrument pack and that plug is problematic, it used to make problems to the SRS and glow plug lights too... it's C0223/0047-4 red/grey wire... pic attached check connections in that plug, give it contact spray and make sure the pins are not loose...you can give some contact spray to the ECM black plug too just in case...let's hope it's not a dry joint within the ECM or the instrument pack cos that's possible too
EDIT: just remembered...disconnect the battery before you play with that connector just to make sure you dont disturb the datalink between the IDM and BCU(it's not some big problem but better this way)
Thank you. It did appear to be a loose connection the way the engine light was turning on and off so this all does make sense. Thank for pointing me in the right direction.
