In my case I had the a false engine overheat warning light on when it was first started the engine after a new altrnator was put in.
Could it the fault code still there. Can I reset it without nanocom?

I've had this happen to my TD5 and one other.
In both cases the motors had got hot and the fan was staying on as a protection thing.
Hooked the Nanocom up and cleared the ECU faults and all was back to normal.
Thanks for all the alternatives. My external temp gauge on the AC is reporting outside temp ok. Have mate with Nanacom coming next week will check it out then. Cheers
I had the same problem after the workshop replaced the head gasket.
Looking here said to check for error codes.
Yep they must have started it with there inlet manifold sensor disconnected.
I checked it was connected now, reset codes and fan now behaves as advertised... :)
Cheap fix... :D
Had this on our 99 Td5. Took it to MR Auto..A replacement MAF was the solution !!
