The crush cans are very strong and can handle those sort of stresses, it's all in the engineering....
But there is considerable discussion on recovery points and where they should be, if they are safe to winch, snatch etc....can of worms.
I personally don't use my bar to snatch, only winch......

I believe Slunny said ARB crush cans are rated to 15 tonne. That would be a big snatch :D
This has all been discussed many times in other threads, but, although that rating sounds like a lot, you have to consider shock loading.
One car accelerates, the other car is stationary and stuck in possibly that black goop loosely called mud, that stuff that just doesn't want to let go.
So then your 2 tonne d2 loaded up with gear probably closer to 3 tonne, suddenly gets a large ripping pull on those crush cans, how much weight, or pulling pressure is on those cans before the car actually moves? Remember the cans are designed to crush, is that rating for extension as well?
Look, it's probably ok, but I choose to not risk it. I'm going to get some of those recovery points that bolt to the chassis so I can snatch if needed.
If I remember correctly, I think even ARB calls the eyelets on their bars "tow points" and I think someone even was advised not to snatch from them.....
This discussion has been held on many forums from various brands of vehicles and the general consensus is not to snatch an airbag bar, get proper recovery points fitted to do that......a lot of people do though, and have had no problems.....yet.....but for the cost of a couple of steel brackets (recovery points) why risk it?

I was always under the impression that the "winch cradle" was bolted direct to the chassis rails BEHIND the crush cans, so that the stress and strain was placed directly on the chassis rails. This is not the case???
all joking asside, Ive run a NON-SRS bag on my SRS Equipped D1 for the last 3 years, hasnt caused any problems, but I havnt hit anything either.
look at it like insurance, really, how often do U make a claim on ur insurance? Ive never made one, touch wood, but when I do need to make one, ill be happy that its there! Its a gamble...
The TJM bar has the cradle behind as you say, but the ARB and others have the winch cradle as part of the bar.
As far as insurance goes, if you have a head on crash and you have a bar on that is not compliant and does cause an issue with the airbags going off, well if you are still around to make a claim, .........;)......yep, that's a gamble.....
