Wouldn't be many Td5 owners with a vbox for performance testing. Sounds like we have found a test rig.... (-:

Belongs at work, but if I happen to be transporting it from one work location to the other, and it happens to be switched on....

    Fuel Economy td5inside

For info, fuel economy post td5inside is equal or better than stock.

Long term average: 10.32 L/100 km
    Post td5inside: 10.25 L/100 km

    Same driving conditions, mostly highway.

    Cheers,
    Scott.

I find the performance in this speed range (when dropping back a gear from top gear) gives a real good indication of how relaxed the driving is when overtaking.
Results are in, back to back, same road, measured in each direction.

    80 - 120, 4th gear manual: 11.45s & 11.39s, 16.19s & 16.40s
    0-100: 14.32s, 17.93s

I can include the plots if anyone is interested.

General driving is much more relaxed, certainly no need to grab 3rd to pick up speed. None of these numbers are that impressive compared to something more modern, but it is the difference between the two sets that amazed me.

For reference, peak boost went from 20.7psi vs 22psi with no change to hardware. (I have seen much higher in cold weather)

(Oh, and this was done on a closed track)

Thanks for the follow up and sharing the results. Those improvements in times would suggest you are seeing at least a 30-35% torque increase at the flywheel. If you are running those tall mud terrains tyres that is probably costing you about 10% and adding to those times. But as you note - the difference with a remap is very noticeable and well worthwhile doing.

Claimed is +100Nm. Perhaps that's not too unrealistic after all!

I do feel like performance varies from time to time. Sometimes it puts a real smile on my face and sometimes it's a bit flat. My guess is that's air intake temp related. Would be an interesting one to monitor. I guess that's where better intercoolers pay off.

I would agree with the claimed 100Nm gain.

Plenty of variables why some days performance feels better than others such air temp/density, fuel quality, head wind versus tail wind, full tank versus near empty. This is before considering any engine or ECU input variability. And then there is your own perceptions.

How much were you mugged for the HiFlow Cat? What year is your vehicle?
