Yep they are just held on with good quality double sided tape. Gentle warming with a hair dryer will help.

Is it possible to removr the standard plastic wheel arch flares on the disco? The ones on the 2004 D2a I'm probably buying are.... lets say the have seen better days and now look ugly on the car. I've seen Discos without the flares and they look more sleek.
Rather than replacing them is it possible to just remove them?

Dbl sided tape. That's good to know. As mine aren't ageing well. I will take my flares off to spray with plasti dip instead of doing them on the car.
Hey Jazzman,,
Im looking for a set of flares.
If yours are going to the tip maybe............????
Postage...............and A small credit at your local pub...
Anyway thought Id put it out there..
cheers
Make sure that the car is in the sun and hot, they'll be much easier to remove. I saw on a site that heavy duty fishing line was the way to get them off and not mark the car, I tried that with my D2a. In the end I just pulled them off and it was ok.
The problem you are going to have is getting the double sided tape off. WHAT A JOB!!!! I did some research online and bought an "Eraser Wheel" which fits in a drill, its like magic compared to any other method I know. Get the notched one, they don't smudge so much. Find them on EBAY.
Noooooo don't take them off, the double sided tape doesn't like to come off the flares, so you'll either be there for years, or have to sikaflex them back on, and that's a bastard too (as i found out... the LHR flare was sikflexed on thanks to a dodgy panel beater we had repair it when mum owned the car before me).
I now rock the "no flares" look, with factory 16x8's (mine is an upspec model). Much cleaner IMO.
