Hi Grimace. The OBD2 port 12v is fused. Have you checked the fuse ? My older nanocom was very glitchy too sometimes. It did however work, sometimes you just needed patience. It's fine for the D2a (which I have). The newer Evo unit, which I purchased several months ago works much much better .... Hardly any glitches at all.
XYZ is either the switch itself or the wiring loom is prone to rubbing through. Trace from switch back. You need to reset the fault using the auto gearbox module of the nanocom. If the nanocom you used doesn't have the auto module it needs to be updated. The Evo does the auto gearbox ok.
Get the EVO. It will make your job much easier.
