When I did my oil pump bolt it was tight but there was no sign of Loctite, but the bolt was tight.

If a bolt is tightened to a sufficient torque Loctite should not be needed, it is just an insurance.

There are hundreds of bolts correctly tightened that do not have Loctite that do not come loose.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

the oil pump bolt was tight & felt like it had some sort of bond on the thread but it came out clean so i can only assume it had nothing on it, done 290,000 kms..

what a pain in the ass job,
lots of thread locker on the bolt now
    Sump refitted

Must have been one long bit of flannel to go through your intake side of the turbo, through the intercooler, then engine and into the turbine of the turbo. Hahaha...

No wonder you needed a new head.

A $15 air filter would have prevented this........

Ha, the engine seemed to be running/driving ok.
Was getting diesel in the coolant though.

Many thanks to Psimpson7's documentation & Pictures on removing & refitting head
Had a fair idea what to do & have RAVE but the pictures say a thousand words, a big help, thankyou.

Clocked up 1100 kms now, runs like a new 1
Just returned from a trip away.

Just wanted to confirm, the problem of diesel in the coolant...
I was told by a few people that it couldn't be the head causing this problem & it had to be the fuel cooler.
Even after removing & pressurizing the cooler diesel chamber (with air) in a bucket of soapy water, there were no bubbles so I was very doubtful the fuel cooler was the cause.
But i tried another cooler anyway & flushed the system thoroughly several times only to find raw diesel in the (now water) each time after a long run.

Anyhow after fitting the new head, i refitted my 1st original fuel cooler.
The cooling system is all clear of diesel im pleased to say.

So unless there is a way the Head Gasket can cause raw diesel to get into the coolant, my old head is the cause of this & good for a boat anchor...

Is there any other explanation of diesel in the coolant ???
Also I had no oil contamination problem either.

I notice that you have no heat shield on the turbo. Is this going back on?

I left it off to keep an eye on things under there for the time being,
Don't think it's going to hurt anything left off though.

hose from oil cooler goes around the back of motor to point in radiator that is Blocked! hence there is no flow anyway. whether it is blocked at oil cooler or radiator still no flow through cooling system that way. quick search here brings info about this. the landrover amendment says DO NOT drill radiator to allow flow.
Well, after looking at the EU2 flow chart the secret hose & pipe flowed into the old type radiator & back out to the fuel cooler, it's been well documented that the newer type radiator is different, one open chamber & the blank spigot shouldn't be drilled.
I have the new type radiator So i put a T-piece into the single hose from the radiator to fuel cooler & connected it there.
I moved the metal restictor from the fuel cooler & put it into the T-piece coming from the radiator to T-piece so it still serves it's purpose restricting radiator flow to the cooler.
Secret oil cooler hose still flows to the fuel cooler as it did with the old radiator.
