Last question: If you guys were to buy a 2002 D2 150kms and full logbook with no CDL am I better off going to a later model with the CDL in it.

    Cheers
Asking what it's worth is against Forum rules, but I have altered your question, maybe you should too I reckon by the time you do what you want, you could have saved yourself the trouble and bought a D2a with the CDL in it, V8s are cheap as chips, there's one in the markets for sale right now, actually there are 2, both autos though, with everything you want already to go touring
    Cheers Baz.

Hey mate thanks for pointing out about the forum rules. I will be more careful in the future and have edited my post.
The car I am looking at has everything for touring accept for the CDL the reason I was asking about a stock one was because I wanted a rough guideline of one with out mods would go for. The one I am looking at (will not say price due to rules) is considerably less than what any other manual D2 I have seen after looking for nearly 3months. And much less than what ozscott has quoted.

If buying a transfercase or changing the output housing ( for one with CDL mechanism) is going to be to expensive I will pass on the deal.

The expence is the parts required and you would really only buy new if just getting the internals and if you can't do it yourself, that makes it even more expensive, it's hard to get second hand bits as they would rather sell the whole transfer case, a second hand D2 tranny with CDL will set you back around $800 to $1000 + fitting, the internals plus CDL actuator $1000 to $1500 + fitting approx, if buying the Ashcroft CDL actuator.

Oh I have seen a couple D2a go for around the $6000 mark, one just recently in the markets, average is about $8000 to $13,000

    - Steel ARB Winch bar.
    - Custom Steel rear bar.
    - 32in Coopers.

    140.

She sounds pretty mean. Ill post up a video of its exhaust. All i need now is a snorkel, rock sliders and a cdl transfercase and she will be unstoppable.
After all those mods I should still be under $6500
