    Duel Battery Position

I have yet to install my Aux battery. I have decided that I would like to mount an optima underneath the RHR quarter panel as there is adequate room
and this is a total waste of unused space.

    Has anyone done this?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I've seen an install in that position Dave.

I found a picture of it when I was researching D2 dual battery installations.

Unfortunately I can't remember which site it was on.

    I have

yes Dave, I have installed in rear pass side + arb air comp side by side. removed the bins though and have incorporated my drawers to cover that area. there is plenty of unused space and you will be amazed at the space once you remove the bin. mine is still not complete though close enough for now. cheers

Yours sounds like it is in the vehicle. I want to mount mine underneath.

Not a good spot Dave, all sorts of mud and crap gets up in there, not to mention if you land on the rear quarter offroad, remember the D2 doesn't have the departure angle of the D1.

Get one of those dual battery trays that incorperates the main battery area, you have the main and auxillary batteries together.

Personally, I think the battery is better inside the D2.

Baz. The mud and crap won't do any harm. As for departure angle, with a 2 inch lift, 32 inch tyres and plus another 40m lift when I hit the button on the dash, I will back my departure angle against a D1 anytime.

When mounted here it will be no lower than the fuel tank and it has no protection.

As for the duel battery tray you mention, I can't see the benefit. You go to a lot of trouble and cost going from one 110AH battery to two 55 AH batteries.

I had a 4" lift and 32s and still managed to damage the rear quarters, to the point that I cut 6" off the guard.

    Rear quarter cut
