Thread: Coolant Leak!

Photo 1is your fuel cooler you can get a kit witch is 2o rings a 2hose clamps cost not much easy job to do if you reuse the old clamps it will be a real pita takes about an hour to do. The second one not sure from the photos hope this helps any landrover outlet will have the o ring kit.

If it's like mine it is the clamp on the hose just up from where it is showing.

Funny mine had heaps of leaks when I did all the hoses just like yours.

I started on a Lap and had to add about 10MM coolant when arriving in Mildura from Sydney.
Then it stopped and has used no water since , and that is about 16KK and 6 months.
I took off the worm drive clips that I originally fitted and refitted the spring clips after a few days . What a PITA. I just think they need quite a bit of time to bed in.

So give it a couple of weeks or so and maybe it will stop. If you have used worm drive clips , retension them after say a week.

BTW I did my fuel cooler orings so that is one spot you may have to bite the bullet and replace them as they don't like being disturbed.

I recently did my fuel cooler. If you are going to do it yourself I recommend that you remove it completely from the vehicle.

Then spend twenty bucks on this.

It will be money well spent.

Also make sure you use Viton rubber "O" rings.

Just a thought, you will get condensation dripping from the air conditioning system under the vehicle. Usually on the right hand side, down on to the front drive shaft. A mod to stop the condensation dripping onto the carden shaft is to re route it to the left hand side. Is coolant or condensation dripping? Bob

Stevie. You can get the O rings from a bearing shop. My local did not have them in stock so I found them at a hydraulics shop.

The generic part number is BS 225 and as I said earlier make sure they are viton rubber. You will require two of them and make sure you lube them when fitting. Do not use any sealant such as silicone.

I used rubber grease as I reckon that it is the most slippery stuff I have found.

Also make sure you cover the fuel hose to keep out dirt and coolant.
