Agree Dave, perhaps as I expressed my disappointment that I couldn't buy the top fuel hose only they felt sorry for me and gave a good discount on the complete FPR?!

I got one as part of my order for about $210 from the UK, delay of a week though which $40 sounds like a good compromise

I've heard a whisper that maybe a Bosch made Audi fuel pressure regulator fits on the TD5.
Has anyone else heard of this?
I replaced my FPR about 4 weeks ago ... $330 complete unit. Being an EU3 engine, the hose to the front of the head was almost rock solid when removed, and when I flexed it, it snapped clean in half !!
At 10years of age much safer option to replace the whole unit complete ... just the reg', gaskets and o-rings would have left me with that hose in a completely unserviceable condition.
Kev. How did you go getting the hose undone at the front of the motor.
When I did mine about 6 months ago that hose was pretty good so I left it.
Will have to change it one day though.
Good to see you still have the Disco.:)
Hi Dave,
FYI - I used a normal open end 14mm spanner after removing the inlet manifold intercooler hose pipe thingy (ie the where the EGR used to be!) as well as the small vertical support strut up from the alternator.
My crows foot spanner wouldn't fit this tight spot.
Cheers
Simon
So I've ordered the regulator assembly. There were many options to fix this issue. I went with a new regulator in the end. But there are some cost effective solutions around if your hoses are still good. Ebay has the kits either from Spain or the UK consisting of regulator, gasket and o-rings. I very nearly did this.
I've had to replace mine a couple of times over the nine years I've owned the vehicle. It's probably due to go again. At $300 roughly for a housing , hoses and the actual regulator with a blown diaphragm which is the cause of all this, I was delighted to find the actual regulator off eBay for fifty bucks with free postage from Spain. It's a higher pressure, supposedly for greater performance , but I doubt this given the TD5s injection system. Anyhow, I'll give it a go...
