    Diesel Leak D2a TD5

I have diesel dripping from the bottom of the auto bell housing. Mostly when the car has been running and turned off. I suspect it is pressure in the fuel line escaping somewhere. I've replaced the fuel line at the fuel pump where it rubbed through. Is there another place that could result in diesel dripping from the bell housing?

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Discovery2.co.uk has a good article on it. You can DIY it without special tools but it is fiddly. You can either buy a new unit or get a repair lit with all the seals. I did the latter and it's bone dry now. Just make sure you don't move the fuel return line closer to the cylinder head when you reattach it.

Thank you. Will investigate tomorrow. Apparently the regulator has already been changed before. I'm hoping it is just has a loose pipe. I'll find out tomorrow what the deal is and if i need to replace the seals again.

Daisy has had this snag twice and she is one of the last D2s built so don't rule it out. Good luck with it!

Ok, tomorrow is here and almost gone, so don't keep us in suspense any longer

It is definitely leaking from the regulator. I cleaned it with degreaser and tightened the hoses slightly. But it has made no difference.

Question is: Do i need a new regulator or just a seal kit?

Mine leaked a while ago and I just replaced it. (Well my mechanic did lol) Didn't want to worry about trying to fix it. But that's not to say fixing the seals wouldn't be ok, I just wanted peace of mind.

I just replaced mine this evening with a new genuine one. I had previously tried new seals in the old regulator but in moving the top fuel line to get the regulator out (the one that goes to the front of the head) it started to leak at the crimp joins.

So my recommendation would be to replace the whole regulator which comes with new fuel hoses.

ULR Malvern sold me one yesterday for $240 (recommended list is $450!)

    Good luck,

    Simon

Simon. You got a good deal there. From memory I paid around $350 for mine.
