    D2 auto transmission cooler

Having recently forked over a heap of cash getting the auto fixed, looking at some cheap insurance in the form of a cooler.
Everything I've found so far seems to be rather pricy, so wondering what everyone else has done before I commit to anything.
Any ideas on dipsticks would be great too.

If you do a search , you will find threads on what others have done.

However IMHO unless you tow a big van, IMHO you do not need an extra cooler in addition to what in my opinion is an already very big cooler.

I recently did a lap towing my 700Kg camper in up to 38C. never saw a warning. You have to be sensible by ensuring the transmission stays in lock by manually changing to third on big hills etc as the stall of 2800RPM will really build up heat quickly.
I changed the fluid and filter when I arrived home after 17KK and about 30KK since the last change and there was virtually NO clutch material in the sump or in the tub that I poured it into. It was much better than my RRC under the same conditions..
I do use Transmax Z which ( claimed ) runs cooler and withstands more heat without oxidisation.
My D2 TD5 Auto 2002 EU3 has now done 165KK so I am currently a happy chappy. ( fingers crossed)

    PWR Part No: PWO6634
    280 x 255 x 1/2" barbs.
lots of room behind the front grill
    synthetic fluid helps with heat,
I'd be more worried about standard line connections blowing apart

I have been thinking the same for a while, my concern is more the stock cooler will block up from dirt/mud and stop doing it job.
I have scored this bad boy off an old Xray machine but I have the feeling it may be too big.

That x ray machine must do some heavy towing...
Saw a generic type cooler at supercheap the other day, and didn't want to spend $140 only to find it didn't fit anywhere. Will have to get the tape measure out I think

Do some reading of older threads before you go buying anything as AFAIK you have to have a cooler with a HIGH PSI rating as the ZF runs very high pressures compared to many other transmissions.

Do you run that as well as the stock cooler? Or on its own?
Also how did you mod the stock hoses? have the ends removed and replaced with barbs?

Rapid Cool Heavy Duty Oil Coolers

Hayden - Transmission and Engine Oil Coolers

This one should handle the pressure
    With AN/JIC flare fittings
