    hard starting issue

having starting issues with my d2a where i am having to prime the fuel system to get it started.
nanocom is showing no codes and reads rpm when cranking
there is very little cat noise when priming
but willcrank and crank with no life like it has no fuel, prime the system and it normaly starts first kick.
its only done 2000km since the filter was changed
it has also been running rough at high load at low rpm and lacking power.
iam thinking its the fuel pump any other possibility's
does the the td5 have an inline fuel pressure regulator to hold rail pressure and do they fail?
    thanks

There is a non return valve on the filter which can cause this problem.
    Do a google search.
However you have said that the engine runs roughly, so IMHO first look at the "Red Plug" and clean it first.

I would say poss injector seals. Sounds very familiar if you have to prime the fuel every time. Combustion gases getting in the fuel.
