    ACE pump.

    Brains trust.

The D2 Td5 has developed what sounds like a bearing noise when I take the clutch up from a stand still.

I have watched the belt while someone applies a load to the engine and the belt tensioner is vibrating quite a lot.

None of the pulleys have any noise or movement except for the ACE pump. It has about 3mm end play.

    It had 220k on it.

    Thoughts?

    Will.

they will have a bit of float in them at least both mine have had,Are you sure it is not the thrust bearing in the clutch.

Just replaced the clutch. And the noise is coming from one of the pulleys.

So something is out of whack, because the belt tensioner is bouncing about the place.

The noise on releasing clutch and tensioner bouncing around could be 2 different problems.

Tensioner pulley can bounce around if the tensioner itself is worn.

If you put transfer box in neutral and release clutch with gearbox in gear, does it make the bearing noise?

It is not a clutch issue.

I have taken the belt off, loaded the engine up by putting it in 1st with my foot on the brake and slowly taken up the clutch.
    With the belt on, noise.
With the belt off, no noise.

When new a fair few ACE pumps on the D2 were replaced under warranty due to noise, you dont hear of many at all now---

At least you have reduced the source to one of 8 pulleys on the drive belt. (-:

You could almost do with a stethoscope to pin point where the noise is coming from.

    It shouldn't be the HB.
