I'm pulling my gearbox out next week and sending it off to be strengthened with more sprag clutches, new low stall T/C done, and it's gonna cost me about $3k with me doing the remove and refit of the gearbox. Can't wait to pair it all with the 32's and the big power haha

Beer softened the impact of the bill for the work. Anyway a considerable difference in how the the car drives. revs dropped by 500rpm, smoother gear change, especially when taking off. The surging or erratic gear changing has stopped, Mechanic said it was a faulty MAF which was replaced.

Will is how she goes after 800km trip home from Melbourne.

    Good to hear.
    What was the damage?
I am deciding between selly my D2 or upgrading/ reco and making it a keeper.
An itemised list would be great please.
    Cheers, BDave.

I am very happy how the disco 2 drove with the works that was done. Much smoother gear changes especially from standing start.

At 60km/h = 1,500 rpm, 80km/h = 1,800rpm, 100km/h = 2,400, 110kph/h = 2,800, overtaking with hard acceleration no longer revs right up to 4,000 rpm than drop back down it, went into low 3000rpm also pick up was unreal 50% better, especially good when going round road trains.

Fuel economy improved dramatically, saved a quarter of a tank over the trip to Melbourne i.e. it took 2 tanks there but only 1 & ¾ on the trip home

    So what did it cost?
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
