Later D2a steering Wheel retrofit to D2?

I'm wondering if the later steering wheel with cruise and media/radio controls can be fitted to an earlier D2 so that the steering controls actually work, or would it be an electrical nightmare? I'm actually interested in doing it to my RRC TD5 with MY99 D2 electrics/ECUs
    Cheers

Sounds like a thought bubble to me. Only a couple of extra wires, so are the spindles the same? You may need to tell the forum?

A friend of mine has a D2 TD5 SE and it has the exact same steering wheel as my D2a TD5 HSE.

I think what your trying to do is to upgrade from the low spec setup to the higher spec rather?

Could be. My RRC has been fitted with a D2 wheel (inc airbag) with just cruise control on the RHS, whereas my D2a has the same but also media controls on the LHS

You'd need to check the rotary coupler behind the steering wheel and wiring harness to see if it has the extra lines. From memory replacing when Charlie's steering wheel there is an extra connector on the steering wheel side compared to the earlier soft dash Rangie I had (and also replaced a steering wheel on) Comparing part numbers may give a clue. After that appropriate additional wiring to the the stero would be needed.

    Cheers
