    Thing is I do check the pipes regularly and they weren't sweating at the joints and the rubber sections still look good.

    I had one go as well 30km out of town.

    I had an all round stronger hose (reinforced) and tougher suage fitted. It will never go again.

    I suggest you remove the hose completely and take it to your nearest hose doctor and get one upmarket like mine.

    Not expensive , in fact the hose doctors will replace all your hoses with high grade hose and fittings for not a lot of dollars.

    What do they do with the quick connect on the ATF cooler?
    The quick connects are a proprietry LR product arent they?

    Removing the hex headed bolt and getting 9 litres of auto trans fluid into the auto is not the sort of job to be easily tackled on the side of the road. Wait for the flat top.
