The search showed no results I'm either bad at search or what time specifically looking for is no there, which is unlikely.

Try in here, has a brief bit about CDL in D2s...

Also, the following were recovered by a 10 second search using the search bar at the very bottom right hand corner of every page...

Thanks for the search tip, I just searched using the bottom search function of the Aulro site and was far more effective. Cheers

Simply engage centre diff with the engine off, turn engine on again and presto no traction control

Thanks, far more legal and far easier to achieve.

Mate, IMHO, if your in the bush, there is absolutely no point in deactivating TC. Those D2's, with CDL engaged and TC, are an absolute weapon. The TC is probably more aggressive than the D2a models, so it is the ducks nuts off road. The only time there is benefit is the likes of sand, and the need for hard acceleration, over a reasonable distance, on very loose terrain. Think belting up a long dune.

    cheers

I'd like to be able to test the difference between my driving ability with and without TC. I've never had it before and would like to fulling understand how much difference it making in a given scenario.

Having said that i'm looking forward to testing out the Disco CDL with TC combo against some of the other blokes in the 4WD clubs with lockers fitted to Landcrusers.

To be honest, I bought a discovery as a means to an end. I couldnt afford the Toyota that i wanted so went for the Disco, I was blown away with its ability off road, So im sticking with it.

I always go out with friends of mine with Patrols and Landcruisers, which are also very good but then they have spent a fair amount on them with lift kits, air lockers, tyers, rock sliders etc.

But i love their faces when i seem to find the tracks just as easy as them in a near standard Discovery 2. I would like the Center diff lock as the TC and HDC only seem to help noticably when in Low range. On sand I'm mostly in high range for the speed/momentum to get me through. And when cocking a wheel it would definately benefit.

    Thanks

I know what you mean. I wanted a constant 4WD, turbo diesel, live axle, 2000 or newer between $10-15k. The disco 2a was all I could afford also. The 100 Series cruiser was well over priced. I did upgrade from a Range Rover Classic so i was slightly biased to Land Rover already plus the old man was selling his.

I'm hoping it performs up the bush as well as the RRC did.

CORRECTION THIS DOES NOT WORK IN MY 2004 D2a!

I've checked this user manual and it does not specify it is possible to turn it off.

On the update D2, or D2a, the CDL was re-introduced. So the SLABS computer was re-programmed to accommodate the CDL.
Hence no CDL treated as fault condition.
Hence no fault registered when started in diff lock.
Hence no warning lights to show fault.
    Hence no disabled traction control.
Think you boys need to re-read some of the info on here...
