    2003 discovery tds5

    new owner- had to charge battery, finished charging- now have loud 'ticking' noises coming from engine bay.

    How long those the noise last for?

    The Td5 has a centrifugal bypass oil filter that you can hear spin down when you stop the engine, not exactly a ticking but is one of the noises that occurs after engine shut down.

    mine ticks too, comes from the right side to the engine bay seems to come from the Abs modulator.

    listen around under the bonnet... is it coming from the fusebox?

    Yep, its the ABS modulator ! Seems to run on for ... who knows how long ???

    Rest assured, it's normal. Why ?? .... No one's ever answered that question !

    Mine sounds like a nice little clockwork mechanism !
