Hey all, not sure which forum to put this in!
Wondering if someone with a td5 that has the middle muffler removed could let me go for a ride in their car? Trying to decide if I want to do it with noise etc
Also, if you have known working brakes I would love to see what the pedal feels like as I have to double pump mine, but some posts suggest that is chauffeur stop?
I'm in eastern suburbs... Can anyone help?
Haha well played. Let me clarify, I don't 'have' to double pump, but I believe it gives a much greater pedal feel and stopping power is a lot more effortless.
I really want hear what the sound difference is, have a little guy in the back seat all the time and I don't want it to be irritating for him and have him crack it all the time in the car![]()
Had u thought of replacing the middle muffler with a 12 or 18" long hotdog, to cut down the drone?
I removed the center muffler on my D1 and it's not loud, but can develop an annoying drone at highway speeds.
Perhaps a straight through hotdog would let it breath better, but cut down the annoyance of a straight through system.
Geelong if you're ever down, except for next 2 weeks....

This is what you need .Lightly baffled so very little restriction.
A 50 Delta flow with centre in and offset out x2.5 would be what I will get.

Actually this one is the nearest to exact fit by my measurements. I had one on my RRC and there was no droning but a nice note. To see the theory google the Flowmaster site.

Im near Narre Warren mine is a Td5 04 manual no cat or centre muffler![]()
I have a straight through pipe all the way on an 03 td5 defender. My wife can hear me coming home 3 kilometers away. I like the sound on the inside but I am sure our neighbors wont. Its actually quite quiet on gentle throttle. But when floored it is quite loud. Probably very annoying on an auto but liveable with a manual box.
The double pump brakes may be play in your wheel bearings. Mine did that for years until I had the bearings rebuilt to county spec.
