Thread: Td5 discovery rear quarter

I wish you luck.....I had a minor indiscretion last trip and bent the bulbar and some minor damage to LH front guard etc.

insurance co was great, sent me to repairer immediately ......six weeks later still no car....I will have it back monday , but even the best panel beaters cannot easily get their hands on parts......eg the plastic scuttle panel under the windscreen was a nightmare to procure.

I could have him written off by the repairer, had I consented.....so, hope you can find your parts.....if you're going to go to a repairer , make sure you can get supply or you'll be sitting around like me waiting to get your car back

Yeh mate just so happens I am the best panel beater around haha. I have already found 3 rear quarters to choose from.

Hi, interested in this post having done the same jacknife-job on my rear passenger side years ago. Only the rear is creased, not any of the side panel. I notice there is a join in the quarter panel.

Question: can you replace just the small very rear panel, ie the one under the tail light, without replacing the "whole shebang.?"

Thanx mate I damaged the whole quater

Sorry mate I misread your post.
I believe that panel is spot welded to the rest of the quater. So it would be easier and cheeper to replace the whole quater because the whole quater is a bolt on item. No welding needed.
There are a few quarters on eBay for under $200

Pm OutBack 1 he wrecks D2,s he is in Vic and does post if needed, I know he has a few frt guards and rear Quarters you might be lucky to fluke the same colour as your car

The rear qtr panel is not welded but bolted together ie the rear upper cluster light panel to the remaining qtr panel, i have removed the entire qtr panel not sure how you would undo just the rear part, access for bolts maybe an issue, could access some or all via the light cluster, the other issue is most would sell the complete qtr panel and prob would not separate the two panels, cheers
