    EMS2 Oil Pressure

After searching and finding posts with a similar problem - Low readings from the engine (td5) oil pressure sender on the Madman display from 0.3/0.2/0.1 bar at idle. The oil pressure switch was removed an extension hose fitted with a Tee at the end, then the switch and sender fitted. The switch is not operating or showing a warning light. I am sorting a 25 bar analogue gauge for tests at the weekend just short a couple of fittings. I will run a separate 0v Madman to sender first, just wondered if any one could help?
The low coolant, water temp, EGT temp are working fine. I intend to fit the Transfer Case and Auto with temp senders and switch between the two. Thanks Ollie

Fitted an analogue gauge and had a reading of 3.5bar at idle cold, fitted a direct 0volts wire from the engine oil pressure sensor back to the low coolant level sensor 0volts and all is well in Land Rover world; I know how short this situation can be, full test tomorrow.

I have given up on my MadMan EMS oil pressure. It usually just shows 0psi reading, sometimes it instead shows very high figures like 80 - 99psi and the alarm goes off. Rarely it shows something around 10 to 25psi.

I have tired it with the t adapter straight into the block, with an extension. I've rewired it. No change.

Have you got a good earth? I made sure mine earthed to the engine directly and works fine. Sorry if it is a dumb question but don't use any ptfe tape on any threads.

Yeah, I haven't used any plumbers tape and have run a new earth with the ring under the sensor thread.

Don't give up, I also have good/consistent oil pressure readings on my EMS-2.

T-peice at the oil pressure switch with VDO pressure sender, EMS-2 earthed to engine block.

From cold or high engine revs it seems to read correctly once it is warm on low revs the reading is too low. I need to check the max bar of the sensor matches the set up for the oil pressure 5bar /10bar or custom? I have earthed the sensor casing back to the EMS 0v at the coolant level sensor.

I replaced my original oil pressure sensor with one with two connections - one for signal and one for earth. Earth goes to engine block.

    No problems since.

    Got it from The Entertainer.

No matter what the problem - there's a solution. You've just got to find it.

EMS2 Oil Pressure - Too Low?

I fitted a tee piece with a long hose to a 10bar analogue gauge
I went through the set up screen - VDO sensor 10 bar etc
    3.0 bar at idle cold
    2.4 bar at 2000rpm cold & warm
1.0 bar at idle warm this seems too low ?
The Madman digital read out is bouncing about so at warm when the analogue gauge is reading 1.0 bar the MM digital read out intermittently drops to 0.1 - 0.2 bar.

I will try a capacitor across the sensor output and ground to dampen the signal.
I will also look for a replacement sensor.

Does anyone know if 1.0 bar 14.5 psi is normal for a warm TD5nengine at idle?

    Regards Ollie
