    EGR Blanking (again)

    Hi all,
hope you can help. I'm new to all this fandangled EU3 EGR stuff, my old defender didn't have the cooler on the front of the enginge block. As such the EGR removal was very straightforward as to where the blanking plate went.

My question is, the EGR removal kit only has one blanking plate, so where does it go? Does it still just blank off the exhaust manifold? Will that affect the cooler in anyway or does it need to go somewhere else?

Hours googling have just confused me, hopefully someone who has been through this before will be able to help

    Thanks in advance,
    ISnook

The blank goes on the exhaust.

Remove the original exhaust to cooler metal pipe completely. It will not affect the coolers operation.

Thanks for that. It's amazing how helpful everyone is here😃

So it is essentially the same job as last time, but leave the cooler on the front and don't over think it.

    Cheers.

I removed the cooler completely and re-routed the coolant line back to the header tank.

I plan to also remove the cooler when I get around to it, but as has been stated you can leave it there.

Exactly the reason why I plan to remove mine.

I just removed the pipe FROM the cooler to the EGR, and fitted the blanking plate to the EGR side of the cooler, then removed the EGR, fitted the EGR replacement piece, plugged the two vacum lines with s/s self tapping screws wrapped with Teflon tape, and put a small cable tie around each one and tucked then away under the new EGR replacement and cable tied them in position.

With the engine cover on you wouldn't know the EGR has been removed. Nanocom shows EGR still operative and no fault codes recorded .... Fan belt was easy to change with the radiator removed, and shouldn't have to do it again for another 170k Kim's which is how long the original belt had been fitted for. Was only changed because the radiator was out. Belt was still in good condition.
