hmm,, I've never heard on here of a coolant cleaning solution,,
most people just flush it thoroughly,,
new hoses would be a good thing too.
Hello
Due to coolant leak I will change my radiator on my Td5. I have removed it today and plan to put back the new one next week (it will arrive then). But before put back the new one maybe would be good to clean the whole system. What is the best way? Should I do it now when the system is open (no radiator) or put back the new one and do it then?
What cleaning liquid to be used?
Thanks

Nulon provides one (R40). Neutralises old coolant and cleans the system. Costeffective has a cooling system cleaner as well. There's also a product that is advertised in Unique Cars and sold via ebay shop that they state removes scale.
No I do not want to clean the coolant, it has already drained. The radiator is removed and I want to flush the whole system. Should'I use clear water and flush through the open pipes or put back the new rad and fill the system with destilled water with some additive and drain?
I've just done e same thing on my td5, the Haynes manual suggests using a garden hose from mains water inserted into the metal pipe where the the thermostat is attached.
In order to do this as Pedro mentioned all my phases were disconnected ready for new ones. The suggestion is run the hose on a medium pressure until the water coming about of the top hose hole is clear. It clears after one to two minutes then you are ready to put in the new radiator connect the hoses and fill it up with coolant. The engine does hold residual water from this process so if you are using premix it will be diluted, if not it seems to hold about 8lt of the 13lt capacity. Something to bear in mind, there are also a few others posts that explain this process well, maybe better than me.
Cheers
Stevie
