If you are as you say handy with the spanners, with the help of people here it is very easy to maintain your landy.
I would suggest one of the first things you do if finances permit is get a Nanocom. When i got my D2 two and a half years ago this was the first thing I did.
After about 18 months it had paid for itself.
As for your FPR. With your kilomatege it has definitely been done. As for their reliability. Mine has just had its first one, at 180,000, car 11 years old.
