Strange clunk rear suspension d2 (SLS)

    Hey there gang...

Thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had similar issues.

Just got back from four days on Fraser, which was unreal. Car performed very well for the most part.

One thing I did notice was a very loud clunk (almost like hitting a hard object) when the rear suspension was fully extended. So instead of a clunk from the thing "bottoming out" it was a clunk when it "topped out", if that makes sense.

Mine is the air suspension model... I've put in a new compressor (Boss) with manual control in the centre console. Works great.

Anyone ever encounter a similar issue?

This was my first "real" 4wd adventure and I was blown away by how easy it was. Just went with a stock set up and didn't have any trouble whatsoever. Keen to get that problem solved so I can hit Moreton Island for our next trip.

we had a clunk on our D2 and it ended up got to the point it was happening when we went over a speed bump, I time and time again went over the suspension and rear end trying to find something, the car ended up loosing boost, took it to JC (Justin Cooper) and he found the CAT had melted into a glob and it was the original cause of the clunk then power lose. Don't know if you have something similar happening but easy to test, get under the car at the CAT and hit it with your hand hard, you will soon see if that's it

Likely as mentioned the shocks are topping out, especially if you have been playing with/ overriding the factory settings for max height.

I haven't given it any more height than the standard elevation on high. Is this something I'll need to fix with new/upgraded shocks? Or is it just something to live with?

Does it do it all the time or only when the SLS is raised?
