    XYZ Switch Contact Lube

    Hi all

    I finally got round to pulling apart Charlie's old XYZ switch on the weekend. It's the later black one. Not surprisingly there was some corrosion on one track, which should clean up nicely, but otherwise all fine.

    The question though is what to use as a lubricant for the contacts? Looking at the contacts and tracks it appears that they have used a white grease, not unlike heatsink thermal paste.

    Any advice or recommendations welcome.

    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

    Looks like good stuff but a quick google reveals no distributor in Australia so back to the drawing board.

    PS a bit more googling found a local product Inox-MX3 spray which should do the job.

    I just bought some electrical contact grease from Jaycar. Make sure they give you specific electrical contact grease, the salesman tried to steer me to some other product which from the label info was not what I needed. I couldn't find the white stuff that was originally in the switch. Used the jaycar stuff and the cleaned up switch is still working fine after about 13000 ks so keeping fingers crossed.

    I just had a look at the Jaycar web site. Was the Jaycar product you used Conductive Carbon Grease 50gm. Cat No. NA1034?

    Yes, that's the stuff. Seemed a bit watery to me for something called grease but hasn't caused any problems.

    these guys are shipping worldwide NanoProtech Electric Insulation Spray lubricant - eRCMarket , though you'll have to ask them how much for that
