    D2 V8 Engine Flushing...

Can you do a short drive with Engine Flush in the system?

My 6 monthly service is due in a few weeks and my oil is black as the ace of spades.

Peering into the Rocker Cover it looks pretty varnished and dirty in there.

I want to be 100% sure that my engine gets well flushed before service.

Do you think it would be OK to add it the engine on the morning I drive the car to the garage which is about a 10 min drive away?...

Directions state add to oil and idle for 15 mins..

Don't use it at all in a gunked up rover V8, unless you want permanent lifter and rocker shaft noises, and worst case broken oil control rings etc etc. Best thing to do is get engine hot, and change the oil using a good quality NON SYNTHETIC diesel spec 15w40 like Castrol RX super, or Shell Rimula etc.

Then change it again in 6 months, both times with new filter obviously, and it will start to clean the crankcase.

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Thanks noted! My mechanic usually uses Fully Synthetic 5w40... oddly when that oil starts to get dirty after 5-6 months my engine runs quieter and smoother..

For the sake a of few bucks I could always do an interim oil change myself....

Interesting about the black sludge, I have never had that in either V8s I've owned. I don't use over expensive oil, but do change it frequently. Also I run mostly on LPG.
I've had the rockers covers off and the valley gasket, it looks almost brand new in there.
