    Fuel pressure

Have you verified fuel pressure the pump may be running
but not delivering the pressure and volume required

Lost all power again. It seemed to fix it on the night, but a few days later it has lost it all. Tried re leaning both sensors, but no luck.

Not sure about fuel pump. It pressurises enough to shut off. Could I test the pressure switch by disconnecting a sensor? Or should I buy a new MAF?

Problem I have is I am stuck in a Bridgetown. The car does not have enough power to get over the hill to the north, so I cannot get to Perth. Needed low range to get back up my driveway. :/

I guess I might end up having to put the thing on a trailer.

The idle is a bit rough too. That could be fuel or a sensor I am guessing.

I have just installed the egr removal kit. But I was having power issues before this install. Prior, though, the car would drop to 80 on the hill. Now I get half way up and I am doing 40.

I have checked all the vacuum leads and everything seems to be connected.

Hmm, I think this thread might need to be relocated to the Wally section. When I removed the EGR system, I could not undo the bolts connecting it all to the exhaust manifold. I decided to put the blanking plat at the end of the first section of pipe. It is working nicely . . . Except there is a gaping hole in the pipe.

I am guessing that the problem was created when I removed the heat exchanger. Probably bent and broke the pipe. :/

I think my original problem might have been a stuck turbo waste gate, but I will figure that put when I finish doing the first job properly. Now I Just need to find a hex socket.

Photo attached. I have exaggerated the opening for photographic effect.

    How to test pressure

    Fuel pump testing
If you are wanting to test the pump.
The FPR is the regulator for the engines fuel pressure.
It is located at the rear of the engine on drivers side if RHD.
    See pic below.

The temperature sensor has a blue plastic socket the plug is removed by unclipping the wire retainer then the plug pulls off.
19mm spanner to remove the sensor.

Fuel pressure gauge needs to be at least 4bar gauge I use 100psi for safety.
To screw into FPR's thread a male fitting of m12x1.5 is needed sealed with 12mm Dowty washer.

You need to maintain 4bar pressure at all times to feed the injectors,
you must test engine at full load and maintain 4bar.

Yeah rule out all other issues
But don't fit sensors or pump till you test them

The exhaust leak was not the problem. Fixed the leak and the car was good for five minutes. Now I am using low range on the driveway again.

I am leaning towards fuel pressure now. The problem is mostly there but occasionally intermittent (good at startup). I have disconnected both MAF and map sensors separately with no change. The struggle to move the car from startup suggests it is initial torque and not anything on the induction side. Fuel seems a likely culprit.

Thanks for the instructions on fuel pressure testing. That will be my next try.
