Vic roads had trouble finding mine, I had to find it for them, I had a plate under the Brake master cylinder area.
And where is it located on a Discovery 2?

There should be another plate at the front panel of radiator support

Must be my week. That one only tells me the paint and trim colours.

Hi Will go back to the one near the brake booster, I just checked mine and found it there, it's on the very left edge of the alloy plate hard to see. Where the GVM stamp is , just under there is XX/XX which is your date it doesn't actually say build date, it just has the 4 numbers. to the right side of it is the stamped vin number
it is very small and as I said right on the left edge
regards, Mario
Look in front of the air box lid on the vertical panel. You won't see it if your standing in front of the disco (but you'll see the two rivets that hold the tag in place). Stand on the left hand side and look forward over the top of the air box lid.
Build date year and month.

On my 2004 D2a there is a month and year plate riveted to the inside of the engine bay directly above the passenger side headlight. The rivets can be seen as soon as you open the bonnet.
