When you spend more time with your vehicle than you do with your partner, you know you own a Rover... ;)
You can get a kit that has replacement buttons to re-solder onto the PCB. I have some spares as well if you can't find it, or if you're not sure of soldering and can spare it send it to me and I can fix it if that's the issue.
Update, I think its my key as the nanocom doest fix anything and the fob light doesnt work.
Now I have bigger issues which ive posted in the Black Box Solutions forum. Dont want to change this topic so I'll post a new thread with this new problem Im having. Maybe someone can help with a disco that doesnt respond after mapping setting were attempted.
You should go original JLR parts always they are heaps better and last longer than aftermarket parts and get a dealer to program the fob for you its not a hard process at all but as I've seen over the years when people who don't know much about Land Rovers touch them bad things happen.
The problem is not the process but the cost the dealers put on it. Nothing happens with a nanocom that can't be fixed but a few hundred dollars can't always be found.
Sorry to hijack this thread but since it is a key thread I thought I would put it in here to help keep possible key and locking things together.
I only had 1 remote for my car and the unlock button is getting a bit sad so got another key for it, only problem is the old key if you unlock car and open door you can close door and walk away and come back later, put key in ignition and it starts no worries.
New key unlocks good and if you get in and start car it starts fine but if you unlock car and don't start straight away when you go to start it it is immobilised (dash lights come on but wont start) you have to push the unlock button and then turn key and it starts fine. Does this even if you have turned car off and left key in ignition then try to start it 5 minutes later you have to press unlock button again or wont start up.
old key doesn't have this issue, you can leave it sit with the key in ignition all day , turn key and it fires
I am assuming this is just a programming issue but thought I would ask anyway
I presume your second key is not dedicated LR D2 fob but a Rover 75 one(they look the same) which will not work well with the D2's passive remobilisation exciter coil, it happens with all of them and you can't programm it more than it's already programmed to lock/unlock cos the R75 has a different management of the passive immobiliser... i'm affraid you'll have to live with as it is and always unlock if more than 30 seconds have passed or get a dedicated D2 one
