    Question TD5 Water Pump

I have a constant coolant leak from the water pump on my TD5. Due to the tight spacing I cannot actually see exactly where, but there is coolant on the bolts of the water pump. Do these pumps have a weep hole to indicate when there is internal failure?

I notice that Microcat lists a seal kit for these (PFQ10001L). Is it common for the seals to fail or is generally an entire replacement pump required?

If your having problems with leaks are you sure it's the pump, there is a seal that's on the waterpump bracket.

Thanks. I did see that seal on Microcat but was unsure where it went. I am not sure where my leak is from, all I can see is that the bolts that hold the cover on which secures the water pump in place have coolant on them which made me assume the water pump.

What is involved in replacing this seal?

Given the time required to just get to the pump the best course of action is to replace the complete pump and the seal behind the bracket with new genuine parts.

ULR Malvern gave me a good price on the bits.

I did mine a couple of months ago - access is via the front of the engine ie remove the ac compressor, ace and PS pump, then the complete bracket with the pump attached .
