Just ordered an OEM relay from Britcar in Melbourne. $7 odd plus GST, plus postage, about $20 all up. Genuine would have been $34 odd, plus, plus. These guys seem good value. Time will tell.
The YWB10004L is 4 pin yellow relay used in earlyer modells and the YWB101210L(superceded by YWB000440) is 5 pin black relay used in later modells but the 5'th pin for the NC contact is actually unused, as long as the problem is that the relay starts flashing faster like on the bulb failure sequence IMO the relay is good, double check if all the bulbs are working when it starts flashing faster cos they may work as long as the flashing is normal but to be a bad contact in one cluster or something and there's a drop in the current draw then...see the diagram and you'll understand that if the relay is bad there should be no indicator activity at all
I feel a little silly really. The relay from Britcar didn't arrive. So I did what I should have done first. Ran the rhs indicator, checked lights, all working. After a couple of minutes, the fast flash started. Swapped relays, no change, rhs still flashing fast. So, checked the lights again. Front indicator globe now not working. Open up and all is clean as a whistle, so must be a faulty globe with a cracked or loose connection which works when globe is cool but when heats up goes open circuit.
So new globe tomorrow. Easy, cheap and should have been determined before all the relay rubbish. Thanks to all who offered advice.
