Make sure your battery is charged , and nothing is shorted , does the key fob lock/unlock doors?
Hi guys I really need your help, please feel free to move this post to a more relevant area if required.
I posted this on the Black Box Solutions forum, hope you can help me as Im dead in the water with no vehicle.
"Hi, I have a Disco 2 2000 TD5 Auto Ace SLS and I really need help.
Im new to Nanocom but purchased an Nanocom Evolution for 2 reasons,
1, I bought a remapped NNN ECU from TD5Inside to replace my unflashable ECU and I needed the Nanocom to sync the BCU to the ECU. I was not able to find anyone to do this for me.
2, My remote entry stopped working as well so I wanted to see if I could maybe recode the key etc. Anyway I think its the key so I wont go on about this one.
I was able to setup the Nanocon and navigate around my disco and look at setting etc, everything working well. I plugged in my new mapped ECU and everything worked ok as well, except I could not read the map to make a backup before I start to play with setting (I did notice that the VIN in ECU was not the same as mine which I had to provide to get a correct remap made). So I updated the nanocom as per instructions here and all went well.
I plugged in my original ECU and saved the settings to transfer over to the new ECU. Plugged in the new ECU and loaded the setting in ok. I was then able to make a MAP backup ok. Then I went to the Security Learn option and that said it worked ok. I couldnt load any setting for the Auto because the nanocom couldnt read the ECU. This is where everything went wrong.
I went back to the Security Learn option and the nanocom screen went blank, when I had the key in to try and start the disco all the lights flashed and the dash was constantly clicking.I had to turn the key on and off several times to get the nanocom to boot again. It did run really slow until I restated it again. Nanocon screen goes blank every time the key is turned to ignition and the dash always responds the same.
I plugged in the original ECU again and the same issue occurs here as well now. I cant access any function that require the key to be in the ignition state.I am able to go to the valeo slabs and look at setting, but I cant even see the setting for the Auto anymore either due to a communication error.
So the disco doesnt operate now, any advice on how to get my beloved disco operating again? "

Ill boost the battery up up now, no my fob doesnt work.
Disconnect battery while you boost it up , then try again , you really need to fix / replace fob
IMO your battery just died, or there's bad contact at the clamps, that dash clicking thing is certain sign of low voltage... after you charge the battery measure the voltage on it while turning the ignition to crank...if the voltage drops below 9V get a new strong battery cos that's your problem
Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
I havn't got a td5 or nanacom,I have a v8 and a msv2 from the same company, even with a fully charged battery i would have it attached to another via good jumper leads also i try to use a power supply for the msv 2 they really like to have the correct voltage.I am sure i have read that on here somewere good luck.
Hi.
I have a little experience with ecu swaps, remaps and Nanocom usage. There are 3 CRITICAL aspects that I know of when doing this work. Some of this may be too late for the original poster unfortunately. Perhaps step 1 below was not followed?
1: ALWAYS, ALWAYS remove the key from the ignition, not just turn to off, when unplugging any ecu/bcu wiring connectors. Keep it in your pocket or on a lanyard? Parts can be fatally ruined if this step not taken. Probably good to do this if disturbing cranking battery terminals too.
2: Nanocom 1 can lose/reset to default all the bcu settings if you go exploring in these menus, maybe a software bug? It pays to record (write down) these values from your laptop screen (better IMHO) or Nano display the first time you go into this area. I know from experience (Nano came unplugged whilst in bcu menu system) that this glitch can make car unuseable until parameters are reset. Dont play just for fun if you dont understand what the parameter means. Not sure if the EVO has this problem sorry.
3: Electrical system needs to be STABLE when mapping. Get the car how you need it ie doors, windows, bonnet open. Turn ac off, radio off, all other non essential features off. Dont touch ANYTHING electrical during process. Charge cranking battery overnight beforehand. Power Nanocom with ac adaptor if possible. Any voltage change can crash the process, maybe brick the ecu.
It sounds like the bcu may be faulty, you dont say what the immobiliser light is doing. The keyless entry (immobiliser related) was broken before you started this too. Many systems cant be accessed by Nano (other diagnostic units may not have this quirk however) if car is immobilised, a long shot would be to try the EKA sequence if you know the code.
Hope this is some help, these cars can be pretty frustrating sometimes.
Jason
Thanks for the help guys. I think there were 2 elements i needed. The first was a fully charged battery with a good powersource connected. The second element was a pbkac (look it up)... I didnt enter the EKA code after battery reconnect.
So now my disco runs and I have it running my remapped ECU as well. Today is a good day.

PBKAC. Not heared that one for a long time.
We're all still learing mate and now you know about some of the foibles of the TD5 and the nanocom.
Just one thing though. If you do decide to give the car a different remap using the nanocom make sure the battery is fully charged before doing it. The ecu is very very voltage sensitive during flashing.
Some actually put a battery charger on the battery whilst flashing, some don't recommend doing it. So make your own mind up on that.![]()
Hello,
You were not able to to download the map from the td5inside remaped ECU because the map is protected against copies. Nevertheless you dont need to backup the map because you just need to use the read/write settings function, when swapping the ECU.
Hope you are satisfied with the ECU.
Regards
