You'd really think by now, on an engine thats been out for more than 10 years, that someone would work out a way to get rid of the troublesome thing all together...
Reliably I mean.

IMO no room for debate on this m8 ... VDO/Siemens is the only way IMO, aftermarket can cause such problems even if it's not at fault, and if you know the depression(crankcase breather) control valve it's old replace that too cos a faulty one can disturb the MAF readings or make it fail sooner... there's no easy way to chek if t's woking OK or not and it's not expensive

The one I got is a VDO MAF. Had it in for over a year and has been great.
Ah yep, cool. Thought that's what u were talking about.
I have emailed Island4X4 twice in the past 3 days, looking to get a quote on freight for a few items I added to my cart, still waiting for a reply, I think I might take might shopping list to DLS and see how competitive they are.
On topic: The AFM has been unplugged for over a week now, and done a fair few kays, I am blown away with the performance of the TD5 with this thing removed, it leads me to believe that its always been a bit dicey, and that its slowly getting worse, I was never WOWED with the performance of the TD5, and now I suspect I know why.
I am however, careful not to utilise too much of the new ponies, incase it causes some damage with the AFM removed.
