ring british off road, they'll pack and freight it to you at a fair price.
It looks like I need to replace the head gasket on my 1999 Td5.
I do not want to spend $3500.00 to have it done at a garage workshop.
Can any one tell me of a retailer who will give fair prices?
I will have to get into it myself.
I need a price for all the gaskets, compounds, bolts, dowels and all the other parts.
I would like to buy it all as a job lot.
Regards, Nick.

I would be interested in hearing how you came to the conclusion you need to change your head gasket, just out of curiosity. The reason I ask is , my D2 has over 380,000 km's on it, and the only time the head gasket was changed was when the mod for steel pins in the head to replace the plastic ones, was gazetted. Have you overheated your engine? That would do it, Bob

Bob 10. the reason is that it is pressurising the coolant and blowing it past the new cap on the coolant tank.
Do you know of any other thing that may be doing that, other than a leaking gasket?
If you do, I would be most interested in hearing about it.
Regards, Nick.
The engine has NOT been overheated.
Britcar in the UK - Land Rover Parts and Jaguar Spares | Britcar UK Ltd - great prices and reasonably quick delivery.
Well obviously overseas lower socio-economic areas, but then there are risks involved that you'll get something other than what you paid for, and transport severely blows out the cost, unless you were getting multiple jobs.
Just don't go to some 'back alley' provider, stick to the bigger establishments. They're cleaner and better regulated. Sometimes these things are worth a bit extra for peace of mind.
Hugh Grant learned the hard way, and it cost him big time!
