I realised that before, i was going to edit the post ... you beat me to it :D
I would prefer to have it but have to admit if I can go over 50 kph I generally haven't found a need for locked high. That is I haven't missed it once in 6 years of having the disco like it is. Maybe has to do with where I take it. There isn't much call for high 4wd in the high country :).
If I did more sand driving I would probably upgrade but there's no beaches near me.
you need to got to one of those pull it your self wreckers, not landy specialist wreckers.
The pull it yourself wreckers have price lists the price is the same for any car. A gear linkage is a gear linkage. if your smart you get them for next to peanuts, ( I didn't say free, but cheap)
I have a d1 linkage setup in a d2 I am wrecking at the moment
They will work, Only issue i saw was they are noisy as they are a direct link to the T/Case. The D2 variant is cable operated, smoother & quieter.

The noise issue is bollocks insofar as the several v8 d1s i have driven including my own. I know lr say they went from rod to cable to improve nvh...i wonder if it was cheaper.
Im my d2 i just used a basic push pull cable located on the transmission tunnel....the side of...and it works like a treat. Cheap as chips. Does not intefere with the seat or my leg. I actually prefer this over my d1 stock set up.
