    Can I use a D1 CDL lever in a D2

    Hey guys,

I have the CDL in my D2 and I am often climbing underneith to engage and disengage it. My model has the CDL but not lever in the cab.

I have been offered to take what I need from a D1 wreck. I just want to know if I can make it fit.

    Thanks.

Yes it will work, just get all the pieces and levers. I was going to do it but never got around to it. You need to make sure you get the bolt and pivot system that bolts to the side of the gear box/trannny.
There is a post somewhere on the net by some one that did it.

    Thanks for the response mate,

I did some searching last night but I couldn't find much. It's a bit of a difficult thing to search. When I put both Discovery 1 and Discovery 2 in the search I get the levers for D1 and D2 but not using the D1 lever in the D2.

Wow. It looks more involved than I thought. I was expecting it to still be cable operated. I thought, even if I couldn't use the lever in the cab, I could rig up the cable under the bonnet so I didn't have to lie under it with a 10mm spanner.

I think he should go for a D1/D2 shifter as well.... but where are they being sold for peanuts ?

The ones I've seen about haven't been that much cheaper....

I believe the D1 CDL can cause NVH issues and also stick at times .... I didn't want that.

To be honest, $500 for probably the best modification to a non CDL D2 is peanuts.

You are paying way too much for peanuts

But agree, a CDL is awesome. I have the Bruce Davis povo version that only works in low. Cost $180. Mines an auto. I wouldn't get the BD version in a manual though as sometimes you need an unlocked low range for towing or backing.
