I would start with a really good flush of the entire cooling system. Its not recommented to use high pressure water or and high pressure air to clear out, but i have had a really good result by flushing the entire system.
First, i dropped the coolant, and used the gardden hose to flush out all the oll coolant. The i disconnect the heater core hoses. Used the garden hose on really low pressure to flush out until not more colour.
The i purchased a camping shower ($29 bucks from supercheap), cut the head off the shower and attached it to the heater core hoses. Filled a bucket with distilled water and and pumped it through the heater core.
The i filled the bucket with new coolant and then used the camping shower to pump new coolant through the heater core.
Did the same with the engine and radiator. plus fitted a new thermostat.
The follwed the rave cd instructions to purge the air from the system, knowing then i pumpe distilled water through everything, and then pumped new coolant through it too.
Car is running swwet no. Sitting on 88 deg no matter what.
Id start with a full flush, do it properly, be prepared to waste some coolant flushing it with new stuff. The reulsts could give you what you are looking for.
Here a few pics of what i did.
Hope it helps ....
Has made an major difference. Lowered running temps.
in any case, a good flush of the cooling systen with give you peace of mind it has been done properly.
