I had a similar problem and it was that valve that bleed the boost away from the waste gate, cant remember its name. Anyway it was causing the system to over boost and the ecu was retarding the power.
Also good to see another Rockhampton member!
I was towing my 900kg boat and trailer at 100kph on flat road and the speed slowly decreased to 80kph - it just felt like the motor was de-rating. I had to go back to 4th to maintain 80kph. I limped the 25kms home with no improvement in power.
I went for an 80k trip on two days later (without the boat) and all was good.
The Disco is a 2002 model with only 121000 kms on the clock. Can anyone throw some light on where I should start looking.

When that happened to me I replaced the waste gate modulator for around A$40 and all was good thereafter. To find it follow the narrow black boost hose down from the turbo waste gate actuator. There are 3 hoses connected to the modualtor that should be examined because they could be split or dislodged and could possibly be the cause of the problem also.

Thanks for the info - will have a play over the long weekend.
See you around town sometime - mine is dark green with a TJM bull bar
Thanks onebob,
Will check the whole turbo/waste gate department over the weekend. Hopefully that is where the problem is - I am sure it wont take much to find the problem if it is not the waste gate, just a case of elimination!
I agree, I changed the modulator and made a huge difference.
As stated all for $40.
Cheers, Jerry
I would also consider if you have a de-laminating intercooler hose starting to collapse on itself and restricting air flow. This would also self correct at times.
